Inspects Smart City works at Tower circle area and instructs the authorities to complete works within one month
KARIMNAGAR: Minister for Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar has reiterated that “the footpaths are meant for pedestrians and roads for the vehicles and we will not tolerate encroachments of roads and footpaths”.
“It is not fair to cause inconvenience to the people of the town by the small traders by encroaching roads and footpaths. The MCK authorities were constructing vendor zones and integrated markets in various parts of the town and the roadside vendors should be relocated”, he pointed out.
The Minister along with Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Collector RV Karnan, Additional Collector Garima Agarwal, MCK commissioner Seva Islavath and others visited the Tower circle to inspect the ongoing Smart city works in Karimnagar town on Monday (October 10, 2022). On this occasion, the Minister expressed concern over the encroachment of the roads and footpaths by the traders and informed the authorities to remove all encroachments. “If anything goes wrong, it will be difficult for an ambulance and fire-tenders to visit the spot due to the encroachments of roads and footpaths”, he stated.
Stating that the Karimnagar town was growing vertically, he said that the encroachment of roads had become a big cause of concern in Karimnagar town due to traffic snarls. He said that the people were worried a lot to visit the Tower circle area for shopping due to the encroachment of roads and traffic snarls. He informed the authorities to expedite the beautification of the Tower circle area within one month. Following the slow progress of Smart city works, he directed to change the contractor for the speedy completion of works. He also directed the authorities to complete the cable-stayed bridge across the river Manairi by December 31.
Later, the Minister conducted a review meeting with the district officials, MCK and Smart City and police officials on Smart city work and prevailing traffic snarls in the town. Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana, ACP Tula Srinivas Rao and others were also present.
