WARANGAL: In order to promote the importance of cycling for a healthy lifestyle and as a means of daily commutation, Commissioner of Police Dr Tarun Joshi had pedalled his way in Warangal city on Sunday.
As part of an awareness programme organised by the Tri-city riders of Warangal in association with the Hyderabad Cycling Club (HCG), which is on cycling league competitions (June 21 to July 21), a cycling rally was organised Warangal city on Sunday. The rally started from Police Commissionerate and traversed through KU cross roads, Peddamma temple, Mulugu road, Pochamma ground and reached Khila Warangal covering a distance of 20 kilometers.
Incidentally, the Commissioner of Police had pedalled 20 kilometers distance with ease and encouraged the other participants of the rally. Speaking on the occasion, the CP said that everyone knows the health benefits of cycling and it was possible that anyone can ride to work every day. “Majority of them do morning rides to keep themselves fit, similarly they can take up cycling for commutation also”, he pointed out. He also reminded that cycling was the best stress buster.
HCG founding president N Ravinder said that their members numbering around 10,000 regularly use bicycles for commutation in Hyderabad. He also called upon the people to develop a passion for cycling for a healthy living. Hyderabad cyclists Jayanth Juneja, Sravanthi Reddy, Chandrashekhar, Central zone DCP Pushpa, Hanamkonda ACP Jitender Reddy and others were also present.
