Vimilakka and Nalimela Bhaskar selected for lifetime achievement awards
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 07, 2023: Balladeer Vimalakka and Sahitya Academi translation work winner Nalimela Bhaskar have been selected for the annual Ponnam Sathaiah Charitable trust lifetime achievement awards 2023.
In a statement here, charitable trust chairman Ponnam Ravichandra said that the award carries Rs 25,000 cash, a citation and a shawl. The awards would be presented in this month, he stated and added that Mr Bhaskar was proficient in 14 languages and eminent writer and translator. Vimilakka is social activist and popularly known as Arunodaya Vimala and fondly called as Vimalakka.
Jury headed by its chairman Ravichandra, Director of language and culture department Mamidi Harikrishna, former Information Commissioner P Dileep Reddy, academician and former Information Commissioner Madabushi Sridhar and poetess Ayanampudi Srilakshmi acted as the members for the selection of awardees.
