Vemulawada Brahmins celebrate Bathukamma in Nepal

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: Devotees visiting the ancient and historic Pashupathinatha temple of Lord Shiva in Nepal country celebrated the Bathukamma festivities on October 1, 2022.

The pilgrims hailing from the Vemulawada temple town and hereditary Brahmin families of the shrine, who are on a pilgrimage to Nepal, celebrated the Bathukamma festivities at the Pashupathinatha temple by arranging the locally available flowers and worshipping Goddess Gauri.

The devotees sang the traditional Bathukamma songs of Telangana and captivated the other pilgrims visiting the shrine. Incidentally, they inquired about the Bathukamma festival and the importance of worshipping Goddess Gauri. After dancing around the Bathukamma, the devotees immersed them in the Baghamathi river. Upadhyula Karunasri, Chandrashekhar, Padma, Chandramohan, Kalyani Ramakrishna, G Aparna Purnachander and others were also present.
