TIRUMALA, JUNE 2, 2023: In the wake of series of accidents on the Tirumala Ghat roads, TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy directed officials concerned to come out with long term action plans to avoid accidents on the Ghat road.
At a review meeting with District Collector Venkatramana Reddy and SP Parameshwar Reddy besides senior officers from TTD held in the Chambers of EO in TTD Administrative Building on Friday, the EO informed the authorities to set up check points in the first turning of down ghat road, seventh mile, Alipiri down gate, upghat link road, natural Garuda rock and Divyaramam. He informed the authorities to construct concrete Retaining walls in the Down Ghat similar to Upghat road.
Informing the authorities to display sign board of accident prevention instruction at different points all along the ghat road, he also directed the officials to make a list of the vehicles to be restricted to ply along ghat roads and distribution of pamphlets to be printed on the speed limit, others do’s and don’ts while driving along ghats.
He instructed the authorities to install speed guns to identify the speeding vehicles along the ghat roads. He also informed the authorities to keep ready the ambulances and rescue teams to react instantly whenever there was any accident. An audio on Do’s and Don’ts during driving along ghat roads to be played in RTC buses plying along ghat roads for the awareness of the public, he said and favoured the increase of more free buses in Tirumala.
He informed the authorities to take steps to avoid overtaking by RTC buses in Ghat roads. He said that besides Ruia, the doctors and their team in BIRRD and SVIMS should also be attentive and ready to attend to energency accident cases if any that takes place on Ghats.
