TTD chairman orders inquiry into electric bus mishap on Tirumala Ghat road
Instructs officials to construct a concrete retaining wall on the down Ghat road from Tirumala to Tirupati
TIRUMALA, MAY 25, 2023: Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) chairman YV Subba Reddy has instructed the TTD authorities to conduct a thorough inquiry into the bus mishap which took place on Wednesday, on the down Ghat road from Tirumala to Tirupati.
He also instructed the authorities to construct a concrete retaining wall on the down Ghat road to prevent accidents. The TTD chairman visited the accident spot on Thursday and interacted with the officials about the cause of the accident.
Interacting with media persons, the TTD chairman clarified that there was no technical problem with the electric bus, which met with the accident and caused injuries to the passengers and the driver. Stating that the high speed or driver’s negligence might be the reasons for the mishap, he said that the officials would conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
With the blessings of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy, a major mishap was averted and the commuters had suffered only minor injuries, he said and added that TTD would be taking all measures for the safe return of pilgrims visiting the Hill Shrine. Instructing the officials to take steps to avoid the recurrence of such mishaps on the Ghat road, he suggested the authorities provide another round of training to the drivers for operating the electric buses. TTD CVSO Narasimha Kishore, transport wing GM Sesha Reddy, RTC regional manager Chengal Reddy, representatives of Olectra electric buses and others were also present.
