JAGTIAL: Taking a call given by TRS working president and Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K Taraka Rama Rao, the TRS rank and file along with the dairy farmers had staged dharnas and demonstrations in Jagtial town on Wednesday (July 20) against the imposition of 5 per cent GST on dairy products such as curd, lassi and buttermilk etc.
Jagtial legislator Dr M Sanjay Kumar, ZP chairperson Dawa Vasantha, District grandhalaya samstha chairman Dr Chandrashekhar Goud, Municipal Chairperson Bhoga Sravani Praveen, town party president G Satish, MPPs, ZPTC and MPTC members, PACS chairpersons, municipal councils, sarpanches, others participated in the dharna flaying the Union government for imposing GST on milk products.
Demanding the Union government to withdraw the GST on milk and milk products, the Jagtial legislator said that the imposition of the GST had increased the prices of the milk and milk products burdening the common man. Besides, the dairy sector which was under strain due to rising cost of production would further force distress among the dairy farming community, he stated.
Similarly, the TRS Karimnagar district unit leaders had also staged a dharna at Indira chowk in Karimnagar town. TRS district president and SUDA chairman GV Ramakrishna Rao, Mayor Y Sunil Rao, former MLC N Laxman Rao, Municipal corporators and others participated in the dharna flaying the Union government for burdening the common man and dairy farmers by imposing GST on milk and milk products. On this occasion, they poured the milk on the road to lodge their protest against the Union government.
