Tribute paid to martyrs on Police Commemoration day in Karimnagar
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 21, 2023: Rich tribute was paid to martyrs of police department and paramilitary forces on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, which was observed at the Police Commissionerate headquarters in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
Collector Dr B Gopi, Rajanna zone DIG K Ramesh Naidu, Commissioner of Police L Subbarayudu placed the wreaths in memory of the martyrs at memorial. The police presented ‘Smrithi parade’ and paid tributes to martyrs through ‘shok sastra’ on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the CP during October 2022 to August 2023, as many as 189 cops and jawans and officials of paramilitary forces and policemen laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said that the day was celebrated all over the country to pay rich tribute to those who laid down their lives in the line of duty in the state police and paramilitary forces. The day is celebrated after 10 CRPF jawans were martyred on October 21, 1959, in Ladakh, while patrolling at the Indo-China border, he said.
He said that 47 police officials in the integrated Karimnagar district were martyred during the Naxalite movement in the region. He also promised all assistance to the police martyrs family members.
Additional DCP (admn) C Raju, Additional DCP (L&O) A Laxminarayana, ACPs Narender, Karunakar Rao, Jeevan Reddy, Kashaiah, Madhavi, Srinivas, Vijay Kumar, Prathap, Sarwar and Venugopal, SB inspector Venkatesh and others were also present.
