TIRUPATHI: The Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) authorities had informed the pilgrims not to visit the Tirumala temple shrine following the incessant rains followed by the heavy floods and landslides in the Tirumala shrine and Tirupathi temple town on Thursday.

The temple authorities had announced the closure of two ghat roads to the temple shrine and also declared closure of the ‘metla dhari’ (steps) road from Alipiri to the temple shrine due to the heavy rains and the floods.  There were several landslides and uprooting of trees all along the ghat road and steps road to the Tirumala shrine forcing the authorities to direct the devotees not to visit the temple on Friday also.

The temple authorities said that they would announce the reopening of the ghat roads and the Srivari Metladhari after reviewing the situation on Saturday (November 20). Meanwhile, the rains had inundated several low-lying areas in Tirupathi town. The situation was worse on the ghat road with the landslides blocking the road and also heavy flooding due to rains.
