Ten-day Ganesh Chathurthi festival begins
KARIMNAGAR: The 10-day Ganesh Chathurthi festival started in Karimnagar district and elsewhere in the country on Wednesday (August 31) with religious fervour and gaiety.
With the deadly pandemic virus no longer casting its shadow on the celebrations, the Ganesh mandaps have come up in all localities, apartments, temples, offices and educational institutions. The idols were bought to various mandaps in processions amid drum beats and cheers by the youth.
Incidentally, there was a steady demand for worshipping clay idols in all households and major Ganesh mandaps in the town. The markets were abuzz with the arrival of devotees to purchase flowers, idols, puja material and decorative items.
Similarly, the Alphores educational institutions launched the 10-day Ganesh navarathri celebrations (Vinayana chathurthi festival) with religious fervour and gaiety in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
The educational institution installed the idol of Lord Ganesh made of clay and celebrated the festival by conducting special puja rituals such as abhishekham, maha puja, Lingarchana and 108 varieties of ‘naivedyam’ (prasadams) to the God. Alphores educational institutions chairman V Narender Reddy participated in the puja rituals.
