Telangana Govt is contemplating to change Diwali holiday from November 12 to November 13
HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 08, 2023: Close on the heels of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu state governments declaring November 13 as Diwali holiday, the Telangana state government had also decided to announce November 13 as Diwali holiday (general holiday) instead November 12.
As per the list of holidays declared by the government, the Diwali falls on November 12, however minor changes have been made in the list of general holidays and optional holidays. The state government has decided to declare November 13 as general holiday instead of optional holiday following the representations made by the TNGOs, TGOs and several Teachers Union leaders to the Chief secretary Shanti Kumari.
With this decision, all the educational institutions would be closed for three days from Second Saturday, Sunday and Monday following the government declaring Monday as a general holiday. The Telangana State High court had also announced Diwali holiday on November 13 and all the courts in the state would remain closed on Monday.
