PEDDAPALLI: In the wake of growing competition in the coal market with the arrival of foreign coal, the officials of Singareni were informed to accord priority for the supply of quality coal to win over the confidence of the consumer.

At a video conference with all areas general managers, OCP officials, underground mine agents, quality control officials from Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Singareni Director (operations) S Chandrashekhar informed the officials to accord priority for the supply of quality coal to the respective customers.
Stating that the industry was focussing on the import of foreign coal due to cheaper rates and poor quality of the local coal, he directed the officials to take adequate measures to supply good quality coal to meet the industry needs. To check the quality of the coal, the Singareni had been given importance for third party sampling.
He said that the authorities right from the coal miners to the general managers should strive to ensure that quality coal was supplied to the thermal power industries. If there was less quality grade supply to the thermal companies, there was every possibility of paying the compensation to the companies, he warned.
If the company fails to provide quality graded coal to the industries, then they would be forced to see more losses than making profits, he informed. He reviewed the quality of the coal area-wise with the officials. Executive Director (coal movement) J Allwyn, general manager (coordination and marketing) K Suryanarayana, GM (strategic planning) Surender, DGMs Tadaboina Srinivas and Marepalli Venkateshwarlu and others were also present.
