Sripada Yellampalli Project floodgates opened to release surplus waters
PEDDAPALLI, JULY 24, 2023: Following the continuous rains, the Sripada Yellampalli Project in Ramagundam mandal is receiving steady inflows into the project from its catchment areas forcing the authorities to lift the flood gates to release the surplus waters into the river Godavari.
Against the storage capacity of 20.175 tmcs, the project was having 16.26120 tmcs of water. The project was receiving 60,646 cusecs of water from its catchment areas and another 982 cusecs from the Kadam project.
The authorities have lifted 12 gates to release 89,328 cusecs of water into the river downstream which flows into including Sundilla, Annaram and Medigadda projects on Monday. The floodgates of the project were kept open from Friday (July 21) onwards following copious inflows into the major irrigation project.
In the meantime, the Mid Manair Dam reservoir in Boinpalli mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla district also received inflows from its catchment areas of Mulavagu, Manair river and SRSP flood flow canal. The project was having 15.55 tmcs of water against its full capacity of 27.50 tmcs. Presently, the project receiving inflows of 2,500 cusecs of water and the authorities have lifted two gates to release 1530 cusecs of water downstream into the Lower Manair Dam reservoir in Karimnagar town.
