Sripada Yellampalli project floodgates opened to release 2.53 lakh cusecs of water into river Godavari
PEDDAPALLI, JULY 21, 2023: Following incessant rains over the three days and the project receiving copious inflows, the irrigation authorities of the Sripada Yellampalli project in Ramagundam mandal lifted 25 flood gates to release 2,53,050 cusecs of water downstream into the river Godavari on Friday night .
Against the storage capacity of 20.175 tmcs, the project received 18.1471 tmcs and the project was receiving inflows of 1,54,332 cusecs of water from upstream Kaddem project and 67,966 cusecs from its catchment area. Sensing possible heavy inflows, the authorities had lifted the flood gates well in advance.
Presently, a total of 2,53,050 cusecs of water released into the river Godavari and 110 cusecs lifted for the Hyderabad metro water supply board to meet drinking water needs of Hyderabad city.
