Municipal authorities had launched a special drive against the removal of encroachments of drains and nalas to ensure smooth of rain waters

Authorities identified 287 encroachments and removed 32 illegal constructions on drains on Friday. The demolition programme would continue till the removal of all encroachments

 

 

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: In the wake of frequent inundation of the Sircilla textile town due to rains followed by the floods, the Municipal authorities of the Sircilla town have launched a special drive against the illegal encroachments of the major storm-water drains and ‘nalas’ in various parts of the textile town on Friday.

Following the instructions of the Minister for Municipal Administration and IT K Taraka Rama Rao and Collector Anuraag Jayanthi, the municipal authorities have launched the special demolition drive of encroachments of the drains on Friday. The municipal authorities had identified 287 illegal encroachments of the drains in the Sircilla textile town.

Accordingly, they had removed 32 encroachments of the drains in the town on Friday and would further continue the programme till all the encroachments were removed. The demolition drive was being continued in Baddam Yellareddy (BY) nagar and Padmanagar to the new tank and Nehrunagar to Shantinagar localities.

The Municipal authorities said that the illegal constructions on the drains and nalas had become a cause of concern due to the recent frequent flooding of the town due to the rains. The authorities were given firm instructions to remove all encroachments in the town and public properties of the drains and roads. Municipal town planning officer Ansar, supervisors Vinay and Naveen supervised the demolition operations and removal of encroachments for the smooth flow of rain waters.
