No threat to Ramappa temple, clarifies Singareni
Refutes reports about mining poses threat to World heritage site
SCCL states it had only proposed OCP at Venkatapuram
PEDDAPALLI: Management of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has clarified that there is no threat to the ancient Ramappa temple which has been declared as the World Heritage Site by the UNESCO recently.
Refuting the charges made by some persons in a section of media that the mining operations in the Venkatapuram village of Mulugu mandal would pose threat to the ancient temple, an official release here on Friday stated that the Singareni had only proposed to take up an Open cast project (OCP) in Venkatarapuram village and the project was only at the proposal stage.
With the UNSECO declaring the Ramappa temple as the World Heritage site, they would further conduct comprehensive survey about the proposed OCP project and they would go ahead only after the state government accords the necessary permissions.
“The Singareni will not cause any harm to the ancient heritage structure and its surroundings. The management is committed for the protection and conservation of ancient monumental structure and preserve the region’s history”, it stated and appealed to all sections of society not to believe the false and baseless reports.
