Singareni plants 5 lakh saplings on single day

PEDDAPALLI: The management of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has taken up plantation of record 5 lakh saplings on a single day as part of the ‘Vrukshostavam’ programme in all the 11 areas of the coal divisions on Saturday.

In the Ramagundam region, Rajya Sabha MP and Green challenge founder J Santosh Kumar participated as chief guest in the plantation of saplings along with Minister for Social Welfare Koppula Eshwar, Peddapalli MP Venkatesh Netha, Ramagundam legislator Korukanti Chander, Peddapalli ZP chairman Putta Madhukar, Telangana state housing board corporation chairman Kolleti Damodar, Ramagundam Mayor Bangi Anil Kumar, Singareni director (finance) N Balaram, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana and trade union leaders Kengerla Mallaiah, B Venkat Rao, M Raji Reddy and others were also present.
On this occasion, Mr Santosh Kumar was all praise for the management of the Singareni for actively participating in the protection of Mother Nature from pollution by taking up plantation under Haritha haram programme. He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had launched the Haritha Haram for the benefit of future generations to increase green coverage in the state and check pollution.
Director (finance) N Balram said that the Singareni management had planted 4.6 crore saplings and also according to priority for its proper nurturing and grows into huge trees. Area general manager TV Rao was taking all initiatives for the plantation of the saplings.
Similarly, the plantation programme was taken up in various other divisions of the Singareni. In Kothagudem region, legislator Sandra Venkata Veeraiah participated in the programme along with general manager Ch Narasimha Rao. In Manuguru, Panipaka legislator Rega Kantha Rao participated in the plantation of saplings along with Director (operations) S Chandrashekhar, general manager Jakkam Ramesh.
In Bhupalapalli region, local legislator Gandra Venkataramana Reddy participated in the programme along with Collector Sri Krishna and others. The saplings planted in various divisions include; Sathupalli 37,800, Corporate area 30,000, Kothagudem 13,300, Illendu 31,100, Manuguru 22,000, Ramagundam-1 area 92,000, Ramagundam-2 area 50,000, Bhupalapalli 50,000, Srirampur 33,500, Mandamarri 31,200, Bellampalli 50,000 and Singareni thermal power project in Jaipur area 10,000.
