Singareni commissions its first 5 MWs of floating solar power plant
MANCHERIAL: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited, which has forayed into the generation of thermal power and solar power, has commissioned its first of its kind 5 MWs floating solar power plant at Singareni Thermal power plant in Jaipur of Mancherial district on Saturday (January 28, 2023).
Stated to be first “Make in India”, the synchronization of the floating solar plant with transparent glass to glass module, which are more efficient than traditional modules were used. The Singareni had planned to generate 15 MWs of floating solar plant at its thermal power station reservoir. In the first phase, the 5 MWs of floating solar panels were commissioned and in the second phase another 10 MWs of solar plant would be done.

The floating solar power plant was commissioned by Singareni director D Satyanarayana Rao and synchronized with the Transco Grid. He said that the solar power generation by the Singareni had reached 224 MWs till date against the target of generating 300 MWs of solar power.
Anshuman Yenigalla, MD, Novus Green said that the end-to-end manufacturing and execution have been done by Novus Green through their in-house teams and manufacturing facility. The solar panels used in the plant have been manufactured in India as part of Make in India initiative by Novus Green.
The CEO of Ilios Power, Naveen Vunnam said that they are eagerly looking forward to commission the remaining 10MW(AC)/13.5(DC) in the next few months as the technology is now fully demonstrated on field and the execution process has been streamlined.
