Ride conducted as part of centenary celebrations of Audax Club Parisen
16 persons including two women participated in cycling race
KARIMNAGAR: Lok Satta udyama samstha district president, senior citizen, Lion’s club activist and philanthropist Prakash Holla at the age of 65 years had completed the 200 kilometres bicycling and set a new record in Karimnagar district on Saturday.
As part of the centenary celebrations of 100 years of Audax Club Parisien, the Karimnagar randonneurs club had conducted a 200 kilometer cycling event Brevet to mark the day on Saturday. In all, 16 cyclists including two women from Karimnagar district had participated in the competition of pedalling from Karimnagar to Pregnapur and back covering a distance of 200 kilometers in 13.5 hours duration.
Senior citizen Prakash Holla along with another senior business of the town Chalimeda Venkateshwar Rao had clocked the 200 kms in the stipulated time and set a record. The other members such as Shiva Deshveni, Saikrishna Chindam, Thummala Kiran, Baddam Venkata Ramana Reddy, Jitender Reddy Kallem, Padmavathi Vuduthala, Ravinder Reddy, Mahesh Pasula, Praneeth Poladi, Amarthya Eshwar, Ajay Khandal, Usha Rani, Ghulab Singh Chouhan and Vishal Chawan participated in the pedalling race.
It was the third attempt that Mr Prakash Holla had cleared the 200 km race in the stipulated duration and set a record in the district as a senior citizen. In the earlier two attempts, he could not achieve due to health reasons. But, it was his true grit and determination, he could pedal the 200 kms distance on Saturday and set a milestone in the cycling history of the district.
Another senior citizen and businessman Chalimeda Venkateswar Rao had also set a milestone by completing 200 kms pedalling and becoming a true inspiration for all riders. Incidentally, a doctor Usha Rani, who had recently completed her 600 km ride, also completed the ride.
