Students to distance from Republic day celebrations

KARIMNAGAR:  Contrary to the expectations, the state government has extended the Sankranthi holidays till January 30 on the pretext of the increase of Covid positive cases in the Telangana state.

The state government had declared the Sankranthi holidays from January 8 to 16 and the schools and colleges should reopen on January 17. However, in the wake of steady increase of positive cases in the state, the government had issued GO extending holidays till January 30 and the schools would be reopened on January 31.

The extension of holidays would distance the student community from celebrating the national festival of Republic Day on January 26. The school and college managements were informed to celebrate the Republic day on a low-key affair with the teaching staff alone.
