‘Saddula Bathukamma’ blooms on a grand finale at NTPC

PEDDAPALLI: The NTPC Ramagundam township wore a festive look on Thursday as several hundreds of the residents of the township had gathered to celebrate ‘Saddula Bathukamma’, the final day of the Bathukamma festival on the eve of the Dasara festival at the NTPC township shopping complex.

Clad in their best attire, the womenfolk took out colourful processions carrying colourfully decorated Bathukammas from various parts of the township to the shopping complex area and placed at the centre and danced around them synchronising claps and steps while singing the traditional Bathukamma songs.
NTPC Ramagundam and Telangana Chief General Manager Sunil Kumar along with Deepthi Mahila Samithi president Usha Kumar had formally launched the celebrations by participating in the puja rituals and dancing around the Bathukamma for a brief period along with the womenfolk of the township.
The NTPC authorities had made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival and colourfully illuminated the township for the Bathukamma and Dasara festivities. The womenfolk danced in ecstasy till late hours and immersed the Bathukammas in the locally available water sources. Later, they distributed sweets among themselves.
