RTC authorities impose fines on shops for selling products more MRP in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: In the wake of complaints about the shoppers fleecing the commuters at the RTC bus station in Karimnagar town, the RTC authorities have launched a special drive and imposed a fine of Rs 29,000 on a total of 25 shops located on the bus station premises.

Cashing on the arrival of huge arrival of passengers proceeding to various destinations after the Dasara festival, the shop-keepers on the bus station complex were charging more than the MRP on various products including water bottles. Besides, they were also selling the products not permitted to sell in the bus station.
Karimnagar RTC regional manager Anchuri Sridhar, divisional manager A Ravishankar Reddy, Karimnagar one depot manager P Arpitha and bus station manager GL Narayana along with Vigilance officials conducted inspection of all shops and interacted with the customers and imposed total fine of Rs 29,000 on 25 shops and warned them of serious action if they sell products more than MRP and other products which were not stipulated while allocating the permission.
