Railway employees threaten to go on strike demanding OPS
WARANGAL, NOVEMBER 20, 2023: Employees of Indian Railways are up in arms against the Union government and threatened to go on strike demanding restoration of Old pension scheme (OPS). Accordingly, the employees have launched a two-day secret ballot election on Monday.
Joint Forum for restoration of OPS and South Central Railway Employees Sangh have decided to go on strike demanding OPS. Accordingly, they collected the opinion of employees through secret ballot. The Railway Loco Running branch and Operating branch have conducted the ballot at Kazipet on Monday. The ballot would be conducted on Tuesday also.
Employees have unanimously demanded the government to restore old pension scheme and threatened to launch indefinite strike in the Indian railways. Sangh CWC member Chinta Murali said that the employees were demanding OPS and were ready to go on strike also.
He said that the voting report would be sent to the central office, which would chalk out future course of action of serving the strike notice. INTUC district general secretary and Sangh loco running branch working chairman Paka Rajkumar, chairman K Ravi, Varaprasad Reddy, Gupta Shiva, Mahesh, Mahender, operating branch chairman Narasimha Rao, working chairman G Narayana, Ravikanth, Venkat swamy, Yekambaram, Sada Srinu, Kumaraswamy, Rakesh and others were also present.
