Quiz competitions on HIV\AIDS for degree college students conducted at Satavahana university

KARIMNAGAR: As a prelude to the ensuing World AIDS day, which is observed on December 1, the district medical and health department in association with the NSS unit of Satavahana University had conducted a district level quiz competition on HIV\AIDS, TB and blood donation for Red Ribbon Clubs (RRC) degree colleges on the university campus in Karimnagar town on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional DMHO Dr G Sujatha stressed the need for the involvement of youth in launching awareness campaigns on HIV\AIDS\TB and blood donation. She said that the students should be empowered about the dreaded disease and take appropriate measures for the prevention and its spread by adopting a disciplined lifestyle. She also informed the youth to actively participate in the blood donation camps to save lives.
Registrar Varaprasad said that the country was having the highest youth population and informed the students to get educated about the health issues as they were the future and the country needs a strong and healthy youth. NSS coordinator K Srivani called upon the students to get enlightened about the HIV\AIDS from their school and college days to prevent the spread of the disease.
About 11 Red Ribbon Clubs activists from 11-degree colleges have participated in the competition. The authorities have selected the best three teams to provide prizes at the world AIDS day celebrations on December 1. They had also given participation certificates to all. The district AIDS prevention and control unit programme manager Surender Reddy, incharge principal of university arts and social sciences Munawar, NSS programme officers and others were also present.
