Purumalla Srinivas is Congress contestant from Karimnagar assembly segment
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 30, 2023: The Congress party high command is zeroing on the candidature of Bommakal village sarpanch Purumalla Srinivas as the party official candidate from the Karimnagar assembly segment for the ensuing elections, according to sources.
Though there was hectic competition for the party ticket from the Karimnagar assembly segment, the party high command had reportedly considered the ‘BC’ card following the demand in the party and short-listed Mr Srinivas, who belongs to BC Munnuru Kapu. Besides, Srinivas was having considerable support from the BCs, Minorities and others in the constituency. He also runs a charitable trust and helps the needy persons by providing assistance for education of students, health by conducting medical camps and other needs of the society.
Now it is time only for official announcement of the candidature of Purumalla Srinivas from Karimnagar Assembly constituency to contest against Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar, who had performed a hatrick from the segment. Incidentally, the BJP had also announced the candidature of Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who also belongs to BC, to contest from Karimnagar assembly segment.
It may be recalled that a Congress party ticket aspirant and Mytri group chairman Kotha Jaipal Reddy had announced resignation to the Congress party following his denial to contest from the Karimnagar assembly segment. He is shifting his loyalty to the BRS, the sources said. Former MLC T Santosh Kumar, City Congress president K Narender Reddy, former Minister M Satyanarayana Rao’s grandson M Rohith Rao and others were also in race for the party ticket.
