Project Bolo English to improve Students’ language skills
KARIMNAGAR: The Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) in association with Project Bolo English has formally launched the programme to enhance the standard of English learning in all the schools including the government and private in the integrated Karimnagar district.
Project Bolo English, an app-based learning programme, was envisaged to improve the Spoken English skills of thousands of teachers and students in the Karimnagar district from the academic year 2023-24. Accordingly, it was decided to train the English teachers as a prelude to the launch of the project Bolo English in the Karimnagar district. The TRSMA is all steps to ensure that more than one lakh students from the district and over 1,000 English teachers participate in the programme and become fluent in English.
Accordingly, Project Bolo English and TRSMA conducted a School leadership summit to launch the Spoken English programme for teachers in Karimnagar town on Saturday (January 7, 2023). Speaking on the occasion, TRSMA state president Y Shekhar said that the outbreak of the pandemic Covid-19 virus had caused a serious dent in the academics of the student community with the conduct of online classes for two years and students getting addicted to electronic gadgets and added that the learning and communication skills of the students of both the government and private educational institutions were affected badly.
He hoped that Project Bolo English would help thousands of children from the district to pursue their dream careers in the future with confidence and command over English. He also thanked TS Planning board vice chairman B Vinod Kumar for taking initiatives to improve the English language skills among the students in the district.
Project Bolo English director Rohan Joshi said that in this project children would receive free access to the international Spoken English curriculum while teachers receive the training required to keep students engaged in learning the language. The project involves both teachers and children using language learning applications. Project Bolo English is a non-profit, nationwide initiative supported by Procter and Gamble Shiksha, Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and The Rising Tide Foundation, he said that the project was launched in July 2020, the project has impacted the lives of 2 lakh students, and 10,000 teachers studying in small private and government schools across 11 states.
Government teacher and senior resource person Kannam Ramesh stressed the importance of the English language and informed the teachers to update their communication skills and propagate the same to the students in an effective manner by using Project Bolo English. TRSMA leaders K Sanjeeva Reddy, Ch Srinivas, Naresh, Kesava Reddy, Project Bolo English resource persons Jerrin Thomas, Sowmya, C Hema and others were also present.
