Powergrid signs MoU with Adilabad to supply nutritional food to Anganwadi centres

ADILABAD: As part of the Corporate social responsibility, the Powergrid Southern Region-1 had signed an MoU with the district administration for providing nutritional food supplement to the children studying in the 160 Anganwadi centres and also providing  basic minimum kits for the children.

GM (HR) GV Rao had signed the MoU on behalf of the Powergrid with Collector Sikta Patnaik on Monday. Additional Collector Rizwan Basha Shaik, DWO Milka, Powergrid Senior DGM (Nizamabad SS) P Sridhar were also present.

As part of the programme, the hot cooked millet based meal would be served everyday along with Mahua laddus three times a week to about 3,200 children in the age group of 3 to 6 years studying in the Anganwadi centres. The programme would cover selected Anganwadi centres of Boath, Gudihathnoor, Ichoda, Jainatha and Neradigonda mandals at a cost of Rs 99.64 lakh.

Apart from the nutritional food, this project would also provide basix minimum kit such as school uniforms to children and minimum kit for Anganwadi centres to improve learning infrastructure. The district administration would provide orders for the supply of raw material from the local farmers. The Mahua laddus would be supplied by the Adivasi Mahila Sahakara Sangham.

The main objective of the programme was to promote the dietary habit of eating hot cooked millet based food and Mahua laddus. It was also aimed at encouraging the farmers to cultivate the millets and encourage plantation of Mahua plants and increase green cover.
