Police Commemoration day: Tributes paid to braveheart cops

KARIMNAGAR: Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana, led the police personnel and other retired officers in paying homage to their colleagues who died in the line of duty, on the occasion of the Police Commemoration, on Thursday.
Police Commemoration day is observed on October 21 every year to pay tributes to the 10 policemen who were killed by Chinese troops in an ambush at Hot Springs area near Ladakh on October 21, 1959.
Mr Satyanarayana placed a wreath and paid his respects to the personnel at the martyrs column at the police headquarters in Karimnagar town. Additional DCP (admn) G Chandramohan, ACPs Rithuraj,
T Srinivas Rao, K Vijayasaradhi, K Srinivas, Shivabhaskar, C Prathap, CPO administrative officer Umesh Kumar, district police officers association president Surender, martyrs family members and others placed wreaths and paid their respects.
Speaking on the occasion, the CP recollected the supreme sacrifices made by the police personnel for the cause of society. He said that a total of 377 personnel have lost their lives this year across the country while on duty. He also handed over mementos to 47 police martyrs family members of the Karimnagar district. Additional DCP (admn) Chandramohan read out the names of the police martyrs. Earlier, the police personnel presented a Smruthi parade.
