Officials review situation at CAIMS over sudden spurt in Covid positive cases

KARIMNAGAR: Following the sudden spurt in Covid positive cases at Chalmeda Ananda Rao institute of medical sciences with more than 40 medicos testing positive, the entire district administration led by Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana, DMHO Dr Juveria and others visited the Chalmeda Ananda Institute of Medical Sciences (CAIMS) and reviewed the situation on Monday.

The district officials interacted with CAIMS chairman Chalmeda Laxmanarasimha Rao and inquired about the medicos who tested positive.  The officials also inquired about the facilities available for the treatment of the positive cases.

On this occasion, the officials have said that they would intensify the covid tests with the support of the medical department by opening up check-posts at all entry points in the district. Instructing the people to strictly adhere to Covid norms, they informed the people to avoid mass gatherings and consume only nutritious food to increase their immunity.

Instructing the people to use the facemask, they also appealed to the people to strictly follow the social distancing at all shopping malls and markets. The police officials have informed that they would launch a special drive against the people for not wearing facemasks and impose heavy fines of Rs 1,000.  Karimnagar rural ACP Vijaya Saradhi and others were also present.

Talking to newsmen on Monday, CAIMS chairman Chalmeda Laxminarasimha Rao said that there was no need to panic about the Covid positive cases in the medical college. He said that all the students developed mild symptoms and all were recovering in home isolation only and no student was hospitalised.

He appealed to the people to strictly adhere to covid norms of wearing facemasks, social distancing and use of sanitisers. He said that the situation was not so alarming but he cautioned the people to avoid mass gatherings.
