NTPC Ramagundam signs MoU with NABARD for Integrated Farming System

PEDDAPALLI: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has signed a MoU with NTPC Ramagundam for conducting integrating farming system using technology which aims at providing a solution for water conservation, manure management, food security, crop productivity etc.

The MoU was signed by NTPC Ramagundam Executive Director Sunil Kumar with the NABARD on Saturday (February 4, 2023). The integrated farm activities would be taken up in cluster villages of Kanalla, Ranakpur, Bamla Nayak thanda, Brahmanpalli, Anthergaon and GD Nagar surrounding NTPC Ramagundam at a cost of Rs 54.29 lakhs wherein 49 per cent of expenses would be beared bny NABARD and 51 per by the NTPC Ramagundam as part of its CSR programme. The Integrated Farming System (IFS) will be benefiting more than 20 small and marginal farmers from the SC-ST community, with an endeavor to convert more than 100 acres of barren land into fertile land.

Speaking on the occasion, NTPC ED Mr  Sunil Kumar Executive Director said that NTPC is always committed to take the best possible measures to enhance the productivity of the farmers. The joint effort by NTPC and NABARD will help farmers to reduce the cost of cultivation with the intervention of technology through pandal method.

NABARD Telangana region Chief General Manager Suseela Chintala said that the  MoU has been initiated with the objective to provide sustainable & year round continuous production of fresh creeper vegetables with effective and efficient market linkage with the local retail markets, the initiative will also help the farmer groups to minimise their investment cost through linkage with banks for loans.

The MoU was signed between Bijoy Kumar Sikdar, HoHR, NTPC Ramagundam and NABARD CGM Suseela Chintala and Society for Health Agriculture & Rural People (SHARP) will act as the implementing agency for the execution of the Integrated Farming System. NABARD Deputy General manager V S Sriram, Karimnagar cluster DDMs  P Ananth and P Manohar Reddy, Assistant manager Gowri Shankar along with the officials from NTPC HR-CSR department were also present.
