KARIMNAGAR: Volunteers belonging to the NSS and the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) have jointly conducted the massive tree plantation drive as part of the Haritha haram programme at the SRR government degree and PG college in Karimnagar town on Tuesday.
The programme was taken up as part of ‘Swachch Pakhwada’ (sanitation drive fortnight). Karimnagar Two town inspector T Laxmi Babu launched the programme by planting a sapling near the indoor stadium premises of the SRR college. On this occasion, he called upon the volunteers to ensure that all the saplings planted were nurtured properly so that they would grow into trees and benefit the future generation.
SRR college principal K Ramakrishna along with NYK district coordinator M Venkata Rambabu and the NSS and NYK volunteers had planted over 150 saplings on the premises and protected them with tree-guards. College NSS officers Dr V Varaprasad, B Suresh, DD Naidu and A Narayana, college staff secretary A Srinivas, vice principal Hima Bindu, Librarian Surender, NYK accountant B Ravinder, volunteers Saicharan, Raju, Shekhar, Mahesh, Gnan Kumar and others participated in the programme.
