No shortage of coal supply to thermal power stations, says Singareni C&MD

HYDERABAD: There is no shortage of coal supply to the thermal power stations tied up with the Singareni Collieries Company Limited as the company was supplying adequate quantities of the coal to meet the power generation requirements in the country, said Singareni chairman N Sridhar.

The company had achieved 68 per growth in the coal dispatches and 60 per cent growth in the coal production during the last seven months period ending October in this financial year. The Singareni had dispatched 357 lakh metric tonnes of coal in the last seven months during this financial when compared to 218 metric tonnes of coal during the same period in the last financial year.
This financial year, they had produced 352 metric tonnes of coal with a growth rate of 60 per cent when compared to 220 lakh metric tonnes during the last financial year. Similarly, they had removed 201 million cubic meters of overburden from the opencast projects during this year when compared to 156 million cubic meters last financial year.
At a video conference with the area general managers of various divisions in the coal belt from the Singareni bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday, the chairman and managing director said that they had set a target of transporting daily two lakh metric tonnes of coal to various companies in the next five months period of this financial year.
