“No Bag day” in ZPHS Odyaram evokes a good responses from students

Students participate in various cultural programmes as part of ‘Bala Sabha’

KARIMNAGAR: The Zilla Parishad High School in Odyaram village of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar has set an example by declaring ‘no bag’ day every third Saturday of the month and conducting cultural programmes for the entertainment and relaxation of the student community from the academic stress.
Stated to be the first school in the integrated Karimnagar district to follow the “School Bag policy 2022”, the ZPHS Odyaram is adhering to the norms of No-Bag day on every third Saturday in a month. Once a month, the students come to school without any baggage including lunch boxes as the school serves midday meals.
The day is totally devoted to practical and experiential learning, where the students are used to conducting various activities. The students are engaged in a variety of activities which impact their learning. It is totally free of stress and students participate in various cultural activities as part of their curriculum.
ZPHS headmaster Anugu Prabhakar Rao said that “we strictly enforce the Union government’s directions to follow “No-bag day” once in a month after the reopening of schools after the outbreak of the pandemic virus. “ Our motto is to bring holistic learning in a healthy and balanced way”, he said and added that they had relieved of the burden of carrying school bags and made the students relax and enjoy the day.
Earlier, the students used to have fun days only the school’s annual day when they used to come without school bags in their best attire. Now it is a monthly affair and it’s time to chill out and ease their stress, he stated. He also said that the students plan entire day programmes on their own about organising cultural events, skits, educational programmes etc. The teachers only sit as an audience and guide them whenever the students ask us to do so, he added.
