National Youth award presented to social activist Md Azam

KARIMNAGAR:  Social activist, crusader for the protection of the environment and Kakatiya University research scholar in English Mohammed Azam has received the prestigious National Youth award for the year 2017-2018 from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs at a function in New Delhi on Thursday.

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Anurag Thakur had presented the award to Mr Azam. The award carries a citation and cash reward of Rs 50,000. Incidentally, Mr Azam was the only one from both the Telugu speaking states to bag the National youth award.

Azam, a resident of Mankammathota in Karimnagar, is actively participating in social service programmes of donating blood and educating the people about the importance of organ donation. He was educating the people about the importance of protecting the environment from pollution by banning plastic and take up plantations, recharging groundwater tables through water harvesting structures etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Azam called upon the youth to take up social service activities as moral responsibility for the benefit of the country. He also informed the youth to set a goal and strive to achieve it by dedication.
