KARIMNAGAR: The National Voluntary Blood Donation Day was observed by the Satavahana Lions club of Karimnagar in association with the Red Cross Society of India and the district veterinary and animal husbandry department in Karimnagar town on Friday by organising a blood donation camp.
On this occasion, Satavahana Lions club president and Alphores educational institutions chairman V Narender Reddy, Lion B Madhusudhan Reddy, Indian Red Cross society president Kesava Reddy and others donated the blood. Speaking on the occasion, regional director (animal husbandry) Dr Linga Reddy appealed to the voluntary organisations, individuals and others to come forward and donate blood to maintain ample stocks to meet any eventuality.
Appreciating the Satavahana Lions club of Karimnagar for taking up the noble cause of blood donation to save lives, he said that there was demand from patients with Thalassemia, cancer, trauma and emergency interventions.
Lions club president V Narender Reddy said that blood donation was the noblest donation in society as its saves a life. He said that the blood donated by those who do it regularly was considered safer than occasional donors. Hence, he called upon all sections of society to participate in blood donation regularly. Medical officer MLN Reddy, Lions Manohara Chary, M Aravind, Komalla Rajender, E Ramesh, V Jagadeshwara Chary, J Chandraprakash, M Satyanarayana Rao, Dr Sai Chaitanya and others were also present.
