NABARD MEET: NGOs informed to play a pivotal role in rural empowerment

NABARD organises district level meeting with representatives of NGOs for the implementation of its schemes and rural development programmes

KARIMNAGAR:  Karimnagar District Cooperative Central Bank CEO N Satyanarayana has called upon the Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to play an active role for taking up rural empowerment programmes for sustainable development of the rural areas and economic empowerment of villagers.

Participating as chief guest at the district level NGOs and channel partners meet organised by the NABARD in Karimnagar town on Monday, the CEO said that the DCCB was ready for providing financial assistance for the grounding of various self-employment and rural development schemes. He called upon each NGO to ground at least 15 to 20 units for the economic activities of the villagers and assured all assistance from the bank.

Informing the NGOs to ensure that the loans were utilised properly for the grounding the units, he said that the repayment of the loan should also be the priority. Expressing concern over less number of employment generating units in the district, he informed the NGOs  to motivate the people to take up units and provide quality products to the customers.

The Karimnagar DCCB CEO had also highlighted about the achievements of the bank which is celebrating its centenary celebrations 1921-2021. He informed them to educate the people to avail the benefits of seven per cent interest by depositing with their bank under ‘Shatabdhi deposit’ scheme.

NABARD AGM P Ananth said that the NGOs were playing a crucial role in taking the aims and objectives of the NABARD to the ground level. NABARD DDM Manohar Reddy informed the NGOs to submit innovative proposals and assured of all financial assistance for the sustainable development of rural areas. Several representatives of various NGOs participating in various developmental works in the rural areas such as watersheds, women empowerment etc from integrated Karimnagar district has attended the meeting.
