NABARD in association village watershed development committee provide training to women in maggam and embroidery works

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in association with the Village Watershed development committee has launched a fortnight-long training programme for womenfolk in ‘maggam’ work and embroidery in Dhammannapet village of Gambhiraopeta mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla district on Wednesday (February 8, 2023).

This is the first time, the NABARD had sanctioned the training programme for the village watershed development committee for the economic empowerment of the women self-help group members for their self-employment opportunities.

Mr Konduru Ravinder Rao, chairman, NAFSCOB, TSCAB and Karimnagar DCCB, formally inaugurated the training programme by lighting the lamp. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the womenfolk to utilise the training programme by attending regularly and with sincerity. He said that the training would help womenfolk develop their skills in maggam and embroidery works and fetch a better prices for their finished products.

A total of 30 womenfolk participated in the 15-day training. The NABARD would provide a stipend of Rs 750 for each participant and a certificate after completion of the training. NABARD DDM P Manohar Reddy said that the NABARD would also assist the womenfolk in setting up self-employment units by providing loans from the banks. APM Sudarshan, branch manager Srinivas, elected representatives, KDCCB-DHAN foundation member Mallikarjun, Naresh and others were also present.
