NABARD conducts workshop on Climate change and crops diversification

KARIMNAGAR: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has launched an awareness programme to sensitise farmers on climate change and need to focus on diversification of the crops including raising of millets to meet the demand in the market.

At a programme conducted in Sircilla on Friday, NABARD AGM P Manohar Reddy explained about the changing environmental situation such as extreme temperatures, rainfall and humidity. There were changes in cropping seasons and unseasonal rains affecting the farming community, he stated.

Stating that the NABARD would be financing the farmers under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC), he called upon the farmers for diversification of the cropping patterns.

Agriculture College principal Uma, district horticulture officer Jyothi, LDM Mallikarjun Rao, district fisheries officer Suryaprasad explained the importance of diversification of crops and cultivation of millets to reap riches.
