KARIMNAGAR: The Muslim officials, professionals and intellectuals association of Karimnagar district have urged the state government to include the Muslims, who are covered under the BC (E) category by the state government, in the OBC list of the Central government.

In order to pressurise the state government to include the Muslims in the central OBC list, the Muslims officials, professionals and intellectuals have organised an awareness meeting at Urdu bhavan in Karimnagar town on Sunday under the chairman of its convenor Md Jameeluddin.

On this occasion, Mr Jameeluddin said that the Muslims were getting only four percent reservations in the state government education and employment opportunities and not getting any reservations in the central government jobs and for higher education in central institutions as they were included in central OBC list.

Quoting the Constitutional 127th amendment, he said that the state governments have been empowered to include any caste in OBC list. Hence, he urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to include BC(E) community in central OBC list to help the Muslims secure government jobs and higher education. He urged the government to instruct all Collectors to issue EWS certificates to communities covered under BC (E) state list to claim central jobs and education reservations.

He also stated that G Sudhir Reddy Commission (Commission of inquiry on socio-economic and educational conditions of Muslims in Telangana state) had stated that 85 per cent Muslims in the state were backward on all fronts including education and employment and added that the Commission recommended 12 per cent reservations to the Muslims.

Muslim graduates association president MMA Ansari, Muslim senior citizens welfare organisation president Md Naseemuddin, SUDA director Sheik Yousuf, retired Medical officer Dr Abdul Quddus, Dargah Mutawali Mansoor Tawakkali  and others were also present.
