Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar inaugurates district-level CM Cup tournament
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 22, 2023: Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar formally inaugurated the Telangana state’s district-level Chief Minister Cup tournament at Ambedkar stadium in Karimnagar town on Monday.
Sponsored by the Karimnagar District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB), the CM’s cup tournaments will be conducted from May 22 to 24. More than 1700 sportspersons would participate in various events such as kabaddi, athletics, boxing, handball, basketball, hockey, football, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming, archery, kho kho, tennis, table tennis etc. The selected teams would represent the district at the state-level CM Cup tournament in Hyderabad starting on May 28.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister informed the students to accord priority to sports to keep them fit and healthy. Stating that participation in sports would help them in overall personality development and team spirit, he called upon the district sportspersons to excel in the state-level CM cup and bring a reputation to the district.
He also stated that the state government was encouraging sports in the newly formed Telangana state, which was neglected in the integrated Andhra Pradesh state. NAFSCOB, TSCAB and DCCB chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao, DCCB vice chairman P Ramesh, Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police L Subbarayudu, Additional Collector Garima Agarwal, trainee IPS Mahesh, Municipal Commissioner Sewa Islavath, DYSO K Rajveer, district Olympic association leaders Mahipal, Janardhan Reddy, Ramesh Reddy, PETA president A Srinivas and others were also present.
