KARIMNAGAR: Telangana state council of higher education (TSCHE) chairman Prof R Limbadri has favoured the linking of the mining industry with higher education for the economic growth of the country.

Stating that the Mining industry was crucial for the progress of the country, he informed the MEAI and Alumni of Mining Engineers association to play a crucial role to update the skills of the students as per the latest developments in the industry.

The Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI) Hyderabad chapter in association with Alumni of Mining Engineers Association (AMEA) (OU and KU) had organised a workshop on “Industry-Academia interaction in mining industry” in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Eminent academicians and mining engineers had participated in the workshop and stressed the importance of the mining industry for the growth of the country’s economy.

Participating as Chief Guest, Mr Limbadri appreciated the MEAI and the AMEA for taking measures to conduct such workshops to benefit the student community and empower them about the opportunities available in the market. He informed the MEAI and the AMEA to take measures for ensuring that the students learn from the industry by direct participation instead of only classroom sessions.

Osmania University Vice Chancellor D Ravinder has informed the Mining engineers association of India (MEAI) Hyderabad chapter to take necessary measures to start the mining engineering undergraduate (UG) course in the Osmania university colleges very soon.

Stating that there was a huge demand for the mining industry in the country, he said that they had already received the proposals for restarting the Mining UG course in the OU from the MEAI and Alumni of Mining Engineers Association of OU and KU which was even accepted by the OU Standing committee.  He said that they would soon submit proposals to the state government to start the Mining UG course in the university colleges.

On this occasion, the MEAI had assured complete support for teaching skills to the Mining UG students by conducting workshops and seminars to upgrade the knowledge of the students. NMDC C&MD Sumeeth Deb had also assured complete support for the launching of the Mining UG course in the university.

KU Alumni of Mining engineers association president M Ramesh, OU Alumni of Mining engineers’ association president RV Rammohan Rao and others also spoke on the occasion.
