TRS leaders humiliated the Municipal Commissioner, who belongs to the ST community
KARIMNAGAR: The Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar has spent a whopping Rs 5 crore for raising 5 lakh saplings in the nurseries to be distributed among the residents of Karimnagar town as part of Haritha haram programme, alleged the BJP municipal corporators.
Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, BJP corporators Peddapalli Jitender wondered how come the MCK spend such a huge amount for raising 5 lakh saplings. He alleged that the MCK had also spent Rs 17 lakhs for the renovation of the Mayor chamber in the municipal office. Alleging large-scale irregularities and corruption in the execution of various development works, he flayed the ruling party leaders for not discussing any single agenda including the massive 555 agenda notes during the municipal general body meeting on Wednesday.
Charging that the TRS had made a mockery of democracy during the municipal general body by not discussing any issue including in the agenda notes with 555 issues, he said that out of the 555 issues in the agenda notes about 150 issues were pending subjects only. He found fault with the authorities for the conduct of the municipal general body meeting which was held after a gap of nine months without discussing single agenda and announcing themselves as all agenda notes were accepted unanimously.
The BJP corporator also alleged that the TRS leaders were humiliating the Municipal Commissioner Sewa Islawath, who belongs to the ST community, by forcing him to sit separately in the general body meeting. He demanded Minister for Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Gangula Kamalakar and Mayor Y Sunil Rao tender apologies to the ST municipal commissioner.
He also alleged that the ruling TRS was neglecting the municipal divisions represented by the opposition BJP leaders by the meagre allocation of funds. On the other hand, they were allocating huge funds for the divisions represented by the TRS, he charged. He also alleged that the ruling party was neglecting the outskirt villages which were merged with the MCK three years ago by not taking any developmental works. Municipal Corporators Raparthi Vijaya, Kachu Ravi, Anand, Anoop, former deputy mayor Guggilapu Ramesh and others were also present.
