LIC foundation day celebrated in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: The Life Insurance Corporation of India observed its 65th foundation day on a low-key affair due to the prevailing pandemic situation at its LIC divisional office in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
LIC Senior Divisional Manager VMV Ramasashtri launched the celebrations by hoisting the LIC flag and lighting the lamp on the premises. Later, he released the poster pertaining to the LIC 65th foundation day.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ramasasthri said that the LIC of India was the most-trusted insurance company in the country. It had started on September 1, 1956 with assets worth Rs 348.48 crore to Rs 38.04 lakh crore by serving the people of the country with dedication, he added.
The LIC captures 66.18 per cent of the premium share and 74.58 per cent of the policies in the country. He said that they had given stipend LIC agencies to 1800 unemployed youth in the Karimnagar division. He also listed out various social welfare programmes taken up as part of corporate social responsibility such as donating ambulances, mobile hospitals, school buses, special aids and appliances to the specially-abled persons, scholarships to students etc.
In the wake of the pandemic situation, the LIC had decided to conduct painting and essay writing competitions to the LIC employees and their family members. Besides, they would also take up plantations of saplings. Marketing manager GS Purushotham, Sales Manager Somashekhar Rao and others were also present.
