KTR visits rain-affected villages, farmers to be compensated for crop loss
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MAY 2, 2023: Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K Taraka Rama Rao on Tuesday Gopalapalli in Mustabad mandal, Veernapalli and Guntapalli thanda in Yellareddypet mandals where the crops were damaged by the unseasonal rains and hailstorms and assured the farmers that they would be duly compensated for the loss.
Interacting with the farmers affected by the rains and comforting them, the Minister said that the Telangana government shall ever be committed to the welfare of the farmers and added that he can very well understand the agony and pain of the farmers who suffered heavy losses due to sudden and erratic changes in the weather.
Reiterating that the government assurance to purchase the damaged crop in the procurement centres and also in the fields, he expressed concern over the untimely rains which had affected the crops at a stage when they were almost ready for harvest. He said that the preliminary reports stated that the crops were damaged in 19,000 acres in the district.
“No need to panic and the government is ready to assist the farmers”, he said and added that the government announced Rs 10,000 per acre and Rs 25,000 per hectare as the compensation to the farmers affected by the unseasonal rains and hailstorms. TSCAB chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao, Collector Anuraag Jayanthi and others were also present.
