Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam on July 11 in Tirumala temple
TIRUMALA, JULY 05, 2023: In connection with Anivara Asthanam on July 17, Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam will be observed on July 11 in Tirumala temple. As part of this traditional temple cleansing ritual, the entire Tirumala shrine including roofs, walls are cleaned with Parimalam – an aromatic mixture of refined camphor, sandalwood powder, vermilion, turmeric and other ingredients that act as a disinfectant applied to all the walls and pillars inside the sanctum sanctorum as well as at other sub-temples inside the temple complex.
This ritual is observed between 6 am till 11 am on that day. The devotees will be allowed for darshan after 12 noon onwards.TTD has cancelled Astadala Pada Padmaradhana on that day following the ritual. TTD officials, Trust board members and temple staff participate in this ritual.
This ceremony is performed strictly as per the agamas and is conducted four times a year viz. before Ugadi, Anivara Asthanam, Vaikunta Ekadasi and Annual Brahmotsavams.
Pilgrims rush to continue, darshan time 15 hours
In the meantime, the pilgrims’ rush is continuing in Tirumala on Wednesday. The devotees are waiting in 22 compartments and take 15 hours time for darshan. On Tuesday, 76,254 devotees had darshan and 28,091 tonsured their heads and the devasthanam collected Rs 4.90 crore hundi collections.
