KGBV students protest demanding quality food and education in Karimnagar  

KARIMNAGAR, JULY 09, 2023: Students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Sapthagiri colony, Karimnagar town, have raised a banner of revolt against the management for providing them with poor and rotten quality food since last one week and neglecting the education of girl children of Intermediate sections.

On Sunday afternoon, the students were forced to stage a dharna demanding the management to provide them with quality food and education as the authorities concerned were negligent to their plight in spite of making several pleas. The students had started vacating the KGBV also as the authorities were providing them only rotten food with insects in the food.

The students also alleged that the education was also of poor quality and the teachers were just jotting down the points on the blackboard without any explanation. They charged that the teachers were always busy with the cellular phones. Following the news, KGBV Special Officer D Srilatha and MEO Madhusudhana Chary rushed to the spot and tried to convince the students, but in vain.

Later, former Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar also visited the KGBV in the late evening and inquired about the situation. He expressed his ire against the authorities for neglecting the plight of the students and providing stale food with germs in the food. He appealed to the students to stay back and they would ensure quality food and education to them. But, the students vacated the hostels and went back to their homes along with their parents. The MEO and KGBV Special Officer assured to provide quality food to the students and rectify all the mistakes.
