KARIMNAGAR: BJP state president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has launched a scathing attack against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for misleading the dalits and hurting their self-respect with the false promise of implementing ‘Dalit bandu’ scheme in the Huzurabad assembly segment.
“Mr Chandrashekhar Rao wants only the votes of Dalits and not their real upliftment”, he said and added that he insulted the dalits and their self-respect by failing to fulfil the promise of making the Dalit as the Chief Minister of Telangana state. He also charged that Mr Rao was the only Chief Minister who had not attended the Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram birth and death anniversaries.
Mr Bandi Sanjay joined the ‘Praja deevana’ padayatra launched by former Minister and BJP leader Etala Rajender on the sixth day at Illandakunta mandal on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sanjay asked why Mr Chandrashekhar Rao had not fulfilled the promise of installing 125 feet statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in Hyderabad if he was really concerned about the dalits and the ideologies of Ambedkar.
Reminding that Mr Chandrashekhar Rao when in opposition had demanded the government to celebrate the Telangana liberation day on September 17 as a state festival, he asked why the TRS government was not celebrating the Telangana liberation day as a state festival when the neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka states celebrate. He said that the BJP after attaining power in Telangana would install the 125 fee statue of Ambedkar and also celebrate Telangana Liberation day as a state festival.
Stating that the survey and intelligence reports saying that Etala Rajender was winning with a thumping majority in the by-elections from Huzurabad segment, the BJP state president charged that Mr Chandrashekhar Rao announced ‘Dalit bandhu’ only to woo the dalit voters of the segment. He demanded that the government should implement Dalit bandhu scheme of distributing Rs 10 lakhs to all sections of society such as SC\STs\BCs and economically weaker sections.
Predicting that the BJP would attain power in the 2023 elections, he said that the BJP victory in Huzurabad by-elections was only a semi-final. He alleged that the TRS was unable to find a suitable field against Etala Rajender from the Huzurabad assembly segment. He warned the police of serious action for threatening the BJP rank and file and registering false cases.
On the other hand, there was an overwhelming response to the Etala Rajender padayatra on the sixth day in various villages of the mandal. The womenfolk and youth have accorded a grand welcome in the villages by applying tilak and hurting flower petals. BJP leaders Jitender Reddy, SVSS Prabhakar, G Premender, K Mruthyunjayam, former ZP chairperson Tula Uma, former MLA Bodige Shobha and others were also present.
