KARIMNAGAR: Former Health Minister Etala Rajender has charged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was shedding only crocodile tears for the welfare and upliftment of dalits in the state.
What happened to the promise of making Dalit as the first Chief Minister of Telangana state, he questioned. Why you had removed the deputy Chief Minister and where the distribution of three acres of land to the dalits is, he asked.
Participating in the second day of ‘Praja deevena’ padayatra from Ambala village in Kamalapur mandal on Tuesday, Mr Rajender said that the people would not sell away their self-respect even if the TRS government distributes Rs 10 crore them. Flaying Minister for Finance T Harish Rao for purchasing his supporters and cadres by taking them to Ranganayakasagar project, he warned that Mr Harish would also face the same problem like him.
There was an overwhelming response to the ‘Praja deevena’ padayatra launched by the former Minister who joined the BJP with the people according to warm welcome amid drum beats, kolatam and harathies in the villages on the second day on Tuesday. The yatra got off to a colourful start amid much fanfare and the arrival of hordes of BJP party workers and his supporters. The party cadres led the rally by carrying the party flags amid the playing of a special song about the importance of padayatra and how the TRS was suppressing democracy.
During his yatra, Mr Rajender greeted all the people along the route and even entered into the slurry agricultural fields where the workers were planting paddy nursery saplings and inquired about their wellbeing. He was also seen visiting the temples and offering prayers en route the yatra and interacting with the villagers. Former MLAs Bodige Shoba and Kuna Srisailam Goud, Warangal BJP president Ravu Padma and others accompanied Mr Rajender.
