KARIMNAGAR: Collector K Shashanka has urged the people of the district to grow as many trees as possible and check pollution by using the bicycle for commuting as well as to keep healthy and fit.

In order to create awareness about the importance of the plantation of trees as part of Haritha haram programme, a cyclothon (cycle rally) was organised in Karimnagar town on Saturday. The rally was flagged off from Ambedkar stadium and culminated at Frozen Semen Bull Station (FSBS) in Karimnagar with the plantation of sapling by each and every participant of the cycle rally.

The rally was flagged by Municipal Commissioner Valluru Kranthi and deputy Mayor Challa Swaroopa Rani. The Collector, Mayor Y Sunil Rao, trainee Collector Mayank, Marketing officer Padmavathi, Municipal Corporators, cycling association president Narender Reddy and others participated in the cycle rally. After the completion of the 5-km cycle rally, all the participants including the Collector, Mayor and others planted saplings on the premises of FSBS.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector called upon each and every person of the district to plant a sapling and nurture for its growth for the benefit of the future generations. Stating that the Telangana state was having 24 per cent forest coverage, he said that the Karimnagar district was having only one per cent of the forest coverage and urged upon the people to participate in the plantation of saplings on a mission mode to increase green cover.

He also appreciated the Municipal authorities for taking measures for plantation and protection of saplings through ‘Pattana prakruthi’ vanalu and Miyawaki plantations. He also said that they were taking measures to encourage cycling in the town by creating cycle tracks in various parts of the town.

Mayor Y Sunil Rao said that the Municipal Corporation was taking measures to increase green coverage in the town by taking up plantations. He said that they had developed Miyawaki mini-forests in 11 places. He called upon all sections of society to plant a sapling in the available space and nurture it for its steady growth to check pollution in the town.

Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this blog.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult
to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance.
I must say you’ve done a amazing job with this.
Also, the blog loads very quick for me on Chrome. Excellent Blog!
