Judge stresses the importance of legal awareness for citizens

KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar Principal Sessions Judge K Prasad has said that the law was an integral part of the lives of the citizens and everyone had to follow the Constitution.

He was speaking at a legal awareness campaign on empowering women through legal awareness organised by the district legal services authority in Karimnagar town on Saturday. The programme was organised for the benefit of women employees, NGOs, CDPOs, Panchayat secretaries, etc. Mr Prasad said that the Constitution had provided fundamental rights to the citizens so that they could lead a peaceful life.

He said that free legal aid was being provided to the weaker sections in the society so that they too could get justice. He said that the legal services authorities in the district, state and national level were creating awareness programmes on legal aspects to all sections of society. He called upon the people to participate in legal awareness camps as it would enrich them.

Additional Collector (local bodies) Garima Agarwal said that both men and women should take responsibilities together in a family and they should nurture the children equally without any discrimination towards girl child. She also expressed concern over growing atrocities against the women and children in the country. She informed the government to play a responsible role in educating people about the legal laws and Constitution.

District Welfare Officer Ravinder, district legal services authority resource person Tirumala Devi, Sakhi One stop centre administrator D Lakshmi, advocates, women and child welfare department officials, KGBV special officers, CDPOs, women employees of various departments, and others attended the meeting.
